Swim England Pre-School Framework, Confidence, and Awards

The primary emphasis of the Pre-School Framework includes:

1. Instilling confidence in children from the outset

2. Instructing essential skills required to master the four strokes through engaging activities and games.

The Pre-School Framework aims to assist younger, less independent swimmers, including babies and pre-schoolers. Additionally, it addresses the needs of toddlers, ensuring they remain motivated even when facing challenges in developing water confidence. A notable method to maintain their motivation is the introduction of vibrant Awards and badges featuring cheerful characters, which provided to acknowledge their progress.

The Discovery Duckling Awards mark the beginning of the swimming journey for all children. These awards are specifically designed for infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers who are embarking on their first swimming lessons.

These awards are excellent for gaining water confidence while ensuring that children remain near adult supervision. They serve as a foundation to the established Duckling Awards. Each level of the Discovery Duckling Awards, from 1 to 4, includes its own certificate and badge.

The Duckling Awards, part of the Swim England Pre-School Framework, serve as a natural progression from the Discovery Duckling Awards. These awards are designed for children who possess the ability to follow instructions and can navigate independently in the water.

They promote greater independence and help to enhance the child's confidence in aquatic environments. These awards are instrumental in gradually preparing the child for the Learn to Swim Framework, Stages 1- 7. 

Next Steps

Upon the completion of the Swim England Pre-School Framework, children should be directed to a more advanced group; we transition our confident and independent swimmers into the Turtles Transition class.
